Two things get their start in early June – the rainy season in Florida, and for me…….marathon training!

This will be my third marathon, which is a really good omen because:

the rule of three” (Latin-“omne trium perfectum”) principle suggests things that come in threes are inherently more humorous, satisfying and effective than any other number of things.”

So, with that in mind, I have nothing to worry about. Except for, maybe……thunderstorms.

I was successful in dodging the wet stuff during this week, although it was so darn muggy I would have actually preferred to run in the rain. Wednesday was marked by Global Running Day, and even though I didn’t need the event for motivation, it was fun to be part of this global running affair!

Thursday I had my last physio appointment, and right now I feel a bit like a kid who had to let go of his parent’s hand…..I have ALL fingers and toes crossed that with the prescribed stretching I’ll be able to keep all back issues at bay. Forever. And so far, so good, even after Saturday’s 13 mile run along Clearwater beach. See the full moon just above the lifeguard’s hut? This is just one of the reasons why a start time of 5:30 a.m. is so worth it:

This week’s mileage, in review:

Monday – 4 miles, solid and even negative splits

Tuesday – 4 miles at marathon race pace

Wednesday – 4 miles with a few walking breaks.

Thursday – 15 miles on the bike, easy.

Friday – REST

Saturday – 13 miles (long run, slow)

Sunday – 26 slow miles on the bike
